Blick learned about the request of five Russians to the Swiss authorities to lift sanctions

Five Russian citizens sent a request to the Swiss government with a request to remove them from the sanctions list, Blick writes, citing the press service of the Federal Department of Economics.

“Five applications were submitted,” a spokesman for the department said, noting that he could not name the names of those who applied.

However, according to the newspaper, one of those who sent the request is the former chairman of the board of directors of the Sinara group, Alexander Pumpyansky.

Some sanctioned Russians applied back in the spring, and their lawyers complain that it takes months to decide on the Swiss authorities, Blick notes.

Alexander Pumpyansky was sanctioned by the European Union and then by Switzerland in early March. After that, he and his father Dmitry Pumpyansky (Forbes in real time estimates his fortune at $ 2 billion) left the beneficiaries of the Sinara group (key industries: engineering, development, financial services) and left the boards of directors of Sinara, PJSC Bank Sinara" and JSC "STM".

Also, Dmitry Pumpyansky left the number of beneficiaries and directors of the Pipe Metallurgical Company (TMK), in which he owned 90.6% through TMK Steel Holding Ltd. Alexander also left the Board of Directors of TMK.

In August, Alexander Pumpyansky said that because of the sanctions, he could not live normally in Switzerland, whose citizenship he has had since 2016. According to him, he lost the ability to service a mortgage loan and even buy groceries, the mobile operator Swisscom turned off his phone, and the rented BMW X7 car was demanded to be returned. As a result, he moved to Turkey with his wife and children.
